Bob Ross and Peapod the Pocket Squirrel

Peapod sleeps

while Bob paints trees

with easy brushstrokes,

dabs and scrapes.

In a couple of weeks

Bob will set Peapod free

but I bet Peapod wishes

that he could stay with Bob,

curled up and snoozing

in his top pocket.

For thirty minutes

I stop being a misery,

a glass half-empty sort of guy.

Life's not so bad when you unlock it.

Though Bob and Peapod

are somewhere up in the sky

and my cat won't fit in my pocket.
