The Beating of Drums

Note: Bongo drums are of a different size: the larger drum is called in Spanish the hembra (female) and the smaller the macho (male). Alright?

The bongos have no sense of time or place.
They'll sound forever, rapturous
And rambunctious in some mystic corner.

The bongos have no master and no mistress.
Just a man slapping them hard, like
The cheek of a horse or a saucy lover.

Macho on the left, hembra on the right,
All-knowing, all-feeling love drums,
Percussionist's yin and yang, dark and light.

A great philosopher once said
"The world don't move to the beat of just one drum,
It's like Adam and the Ants in 1981
With Terry Lee and Merrick driving it on."
Some suspected the philosopher
Was caned to the eyeballs.
