Vanilla Fudge - You Keep Me Hanging On
They certainly were one of the most striking looking groups of the '60s or any other era and perhaps never more so than in this marvellous clip. Vanilla Fudge took classic pop songs and turned them into psychedelic wig-outs which showcased their tremendous musicianship. And as you can see from this clip, they had natty tailors. I've never seen a band throw themselves into a performance with such abandon as The Fudgesters do here. There is such ecstatic joy in their playing that each individual member reaches his own state of perforgasm. Alas this isn't the unabridged version from their eponymous debut album (heartily recommended) so they have to skip the musical foreplay and get straight down to business. I think you'll agree, they do a damn fine job. Does anybody else think that the intial keyboard melody sounds a little like "Only the crumbliest, flakiest chocolate, tastes like chocolate never tasted before..."?
