The Human League - The Path of Least Resistance
The Human League took their job as house band on The Liberator incredibly seriously, as this clip attests.
In their early days of touring, The League liked a fry-up of a morning. They found that such a meal provided them with just the right amount of fuel that they needed for a day packed with synthesizer noodling. Phil Oakey insisted on ketchup with his. The keyboard boffins who comprised the rest of the band liked to hide the desired condiment, with the result that Phil could "never find the sauce". After this had happened in 57 transport cafes on 57 consecutive mornings, Phil was so infuriated that he jettisoned the rest of the line-up and in due course they were replaced by two singing birds who got him into the habit of eating muesli. Alas the quality of The League's music suffered terribly after they switched to a more continental-style breakfast...
