Grecian Jazz (And the Meat Goes On)
Fortezza of Rethymno (photo by B.R.) |
Sipping Limoncello on the burning veranda
Whipping some peasants as the tangerine sun sets
For this year's sex appeal
we raised two blondes and a redhead
Sundry shady Spanish ladies
distractedly scratch their moustaches
The wind howls like wolves
while we sit like Buddhas
These lanky peasants
make great draught excluders
What the heck's for breakfast?
The meat goes on
We'll be shooting peasants
come the cool menthol dawn
We better get a move on
Grecian jazz band got its groove on:
Dickie Davies on drums
David Vine on vidiprinter
Three bars of fire on in winter
Trevor Francis ~ Trebor Minter
Casey Kasem on keytar
Ravi Shankar on seetar
Al Dente on electric ravioli
Allen Ginsberg on everything that's holy
Le Duc de Pommes-Frittes
plays pipes and toilet requisites
Monsieur Marcel Marceau
mimes on his ondes Martenot
Samson-haired Pat Sharp
twing-twangs his Ozark harp
Ruby Laffoon coaxes tunes
from maroon contrabassoons
Bob Carolgees and Spit
sing "Hit Me with Your Rethymno Stick"
Epilog
Satan's crashed the party
What's his bloody game?
And how in Hades
does he know all of our names?
