From a Cretan Poolside

I wanted to sit here by the poolside

and reflect on the vicissitudes

of this bloody game called life

 

but then the Germans came

and annexed the sunloungers

Now they're wiping my memory

and rewriting history

turning it upside down

inside out

back to front

They really are the most frightful

bores

 

It turns out

I'm not half as heroic

as I thought I was
