Hardnut Horses
(i)
Grazing in fields with their backs to me, whinnying wryly
Nickering caustically, blocking the paths of the upright
Horses with attitude queuing to give me a kicking
Led by a bay mare who calls herself Pegasus Princess.
(ii)
They're selfish equine bullies
Thinking only of themselves
If it was down to me they'd be
In tins and on the shelves
For I do not like horseykind
Though I wish it were not so
Shall I awake one night to find
A stretched face on my pillow?

Tim the Tiny Horse is too titchy to be a hardnut. He's the star of a book by the same name by the wonderful Harry Hill. If you have children I would urge you to buy it and read it together. It's great.
