Dr Foster
Doctor Foster went to Gloucester.
The TV weatherman
predicted periods of precipitation
so Foster hailed a taxi
for the railway station.
I called him up on his mobile phone
upon hearing of this change of plans.
"Come on sawbones, play the game.
You're not supposed to take the train."
He said he had to consider his reputation;
could not arrive soggy at any consultation.
Sounding annoyed,
he said he must avoid
any unpleasant muddles with puddles,
"And besides," he then went on to say,
"I may wish to return to Gloucester one day."
I started to suspect that Doctor Foster
might, in fact, be an impostor.
