Duel on the A6096
(Note: The A6096 is a road which runs from Spondon in Derbyshire to Giltbrook in Nottinghamshire, via Ilkeston. It's a South East Derbyshire version of Sierra Highway, as driven by David Mann (Dennis Weaver) in his red Plymouth Valiant in the 1971 film Duel.)
The bright sunlight reflects
Off the Cat and Fiddle sails
And blinds innocent insects
On leisurely picnics.
Meanwhile...
Now come on, let's not play games.
I can call the police.
You think that I won't?
You're wrong, mister.
I mean if you think you can just...
Just take that... that truck of yours
And use it as a murder weapon and uh...
Killin' people on the highway...
You're wrong!
You've got another thing comin'!
As evening falls
Like bastard fruit,
As men walk off
Their liver & onions,
Their snuffling spaniels
Upturn tiny rugs:
Remnants of an earwig
Family's last repast
Tumble into grass.
